Arkansas Department of Labor presents Koontz Electric Safety Award

KOONTZ ELECTRIC COMPANY hosted their 36th Annual Fish Fry at Cherokee Park on May 16, 2019. During the Fish Fry they celebrated their achievement of, One Million hours worked without a recordable incident. Scotty Dale Douthit, Chairman of the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission presented Benny Koontz, President and CEO of Koontz Electric, a letter from Governor Asa Hutchinson honoring this remarkable achievement. Ralph Hudson, Deputy Director, Arkansas Department of Labor, and Paul Hansen, Director, Health and Safety Division, Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission, presented Dean Hoover, Executive Vice President and COO, an award from the State of Arkansas. Drew Clem, Arkansas Grid Manager for Entergy, presented Koontz Electric with their Safety Award.

Koontz Electric is the first contractor to ever receive this award from the Arkansas Department of Labor, and one of only 60 nationwide, one in ten thousand, to achieve this milestone in the last 30 years.

Gary Massey, Koontz Corporate Safety Officer, presented David Gray, Superintendent, and crew, Justin West, Cory Coggins, Jonathan Price and Rick Miller with the Good Catch Award. This award recognizes employees who prevent potential accidents by recognizing unseen hazards.

Benny Koontz also recognized Jeff Owen, Koontz Electric Superintendent, who is retiring after 28 years of service, and presented him with a retirement gift.
