Kimberly Moore Named President of NAWIC Greater LR Chapter #12

Koontz Electric and The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) are pleased to announce that Kimberly Moore, Manager of Marketing and Corporate Communications with Koontz Electric in Morrilton, has been named President for the Greater Little Rock Chapter #12.  Mrs. Moore joined NAWIC Chapter #12 August 1, 2019.  She was elected to the board of directors and named Vice President in October 2020.  Mrs. Moore was awarded the NAWIC Rookie of the Year Award for 2019-2020.

NAWIC Chapter #12 currently has 35 members.    The National Association of Women in Construction originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas. It was founded in 1953 by 16 women working in the construction industry. Recognizing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. Women in Construction of Fort Worth were so successful that it gained a national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of Women in Construction.

Members of the Association are business owners and executives, subcontractors, managers, accountants, estimators, and tradeswomen. Some members are employed in construction trades, including welding, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.

Monthly chapter meetings, regional conferences, and national conventions provide opportunities to build a strong communication network. This helps companies develop and broaden valuable business contacts through employees.

More than 30 associations work with NAWIC to share resources, aggressive problem resolutions, safety training, and best practices, with the overall goal of creating a more positive image of the construction industry.

Other Koontz Electric NAWIC members include Tammy Andrews, Wanda Virden, and Courtney Andrews.
