Koontz Electric’s scope of work consisted of demolition of a section of the existing MCC lineup, and installation of a new 2.4kV MCC for control of a new 112.5kVA transformer, along with a new medium voltage drive and four (4) soft start starters to run five (5) new motors installed during this upgrade of the plant. Also installed new medium voltage feeders to the five (5) new pump motors and the 112.5kVA transformer. Koontz constructed and installed a new PLC control panel that was programed to interface with the new gear and the existing back up redundant control panel located at the Wilson WTP Control Room allowing plant personal to operate across fiber or hardwire. Koontz coordinated with plant personnel in completing programming of the PLC and relays. Performed replacement of existing low voltage panels and associated building circuits. Removal of the building’s existing and installation of a new lightning protection system. Removal of the existing ventilation system and installation of four (4) new exhaust fans and louver’s. Koontz provided testing and commissioning of the newly installed electrical equipment and cables, including an updated Power Systems Study.
